What parts of Maryland do you serve?

We provide services anywhere in the state from Baltimore to Bethesda, and the eastern shore to the PA border. No matter where you are, we have an office or can send an agent to meet you and help close your deal.

What if I can’t come to your office?

Your agent can come to you and will work around your schedule at the location of your choice. You can also use the fast, paperless system that lets you upload your documents directly, no matter where you are or what time it is, for maximum convenience.

Are there any other state fees or taxes I need to know about?

Maryland charges these one-time taxes and fees when a home is bought or sold, plus property tax that must be paid each year.

  • Recording Fee for Land Instruments of $60-$115 depending on the number of documents and owner occupancy.
  • Land Records Improvement Fund Surcharge of up to $5 per recordable instrument.
  • Recordation Tax, set by each county ranges from $2.20 to $5 per $500 of the selling price.
  • State Transfer Tax of .5%

Each Maryland city and/or county has its own rates for real property taxes and land recordation taxes. Be sure to get an accurate quote directly from your title company.

First-time homebuyers might be eligible for a reduced rate for the State Transfer Tax and each county may have additional surcharges and taxes. Your local settlement agent can help you with the details.

Do you have to be licensed to perform title services in Maryland?

Yes, all title insurance producers must complete coursework or have real-world work experience, pass an exam and submit a surety bond to the Maryland Insurance Administration. You can be confident knowing your ATG Title agent has all applicable licenses and experience needed to perform the service you need.
